TADEJ POGAČAR HELPS TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY DEVASTATING FLOODS

Over the past month, we have witnessed devastating floods that have affected certain areas of Slovenia. I invite you to join me on August 23 at 6 p.m. at Kongresni trg in Ljubljana, where I will be happy to sign autographs and take photos with you. ✍️🤳 For each photo and autograph, I will donate €10 to charity to help repair the damage and assist those affected by the floods. Regardless of how many of you show up, we will donate at least €10,000.

I am looking forward to meeting you all in Ljubljana. Thank you.

On Wednesday, we witnessed an extraordinary event at the Congress Square in Ljubljana, which united the hearts of all Slovenian citizens. Sport has an extraordinary power to bring people together, which we felt once again on this occasion. However, the event was not only about sport, but also demonstrated a deep sense of humanity.

Tadej Pogačar, an exceptional cyclist and proud ambassador of our country, has stepped into the spotlight of charity. With his unique approach, he collected 1,793 signatures and 1,214 photographs, rounding it all off with a donation of €10,000. This wonderful sum of €30,000 will go to those who find themselves in difficult life situations. This is real proof that sport can achieve more than just victories in competitions, but also has the power to change lives for the better.

We are also delighted with the contribution made by our fans, who have shown their generous charitable hearts. They have raised an incredible €7,484.01, which will also go to those in need. This awareness that together we can be part of something bigger and more important fills us with pride.

Sincere thanks go to Tadej Pogačar, who, with his generosity and inclusive approach, showed how a passion for sport can transcend the boundaries of competition. We would also like to thank all those who, despite the heat, patiently queued up yesterday to become part of this unforgettable story. Together, we created an invaluable mosaic of a beautiful event that will live on in our hearts for a long time to come.

Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic at the 47th GP Sportivi di Poggiana

The 47th GRAN PREMIO SPORTIVI DI POGGIANA cycling race, which took place on August 13, brought plenty of excitement and action to Italian roads. The Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic decided to represent the club's colors in this prestigious 164-kilometer race. Despite their efforts and determination, the result was not in their favor, but the experience undoubtedly provided an opportunity for learning and growth.

The race featured a select team consisting of cyclists Fabijan KRALJ, Jernej HRIBAR, Dan Andrej TOMŠIČ, and Andrew SAMPSON. Together, they set off on a demanding route that included numerous climbs, descents, and turns, presenting many challenges for all competitors.

Despite their efforts and desire to succeed, the Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic failed to achieve the desired results. The race brought unexpected twists and difficulties that required a great deal of tactical thinking and physical strength. The cyclists faced various challenges on the road, but victory was not meant to be theirs this time.

As Fabijan KRALJ, one of the team members, said: "It was not our day in Italy, but you try to learn from the mistakes you have made and you go on." This kind of response to a challenge is key to maintaining a positive attitude. We can learn a lot from every failure and grow as athletes and individuals. The team members will not let themselves be discouraged, but will continue to train and prepare for upcoming races.

Jernej HRIBAR, another member of the team, added: “Despite our efforts on the race, circumstances got the better of us. It’s important to stay focused and motivated for the upcoming races.” Cycling is known for its unpredictability, so ups and downs are an integral part of this discipline. Each race brings new experiences that contribute to the growth of both the physical and mental strength of cyclists.

The atmosphere among the team members remained positive and encouraging despite the failure. The Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic showed unity and dedication to their goals. Their efforts were not in vain, as they gained invaluable experience that will help them in future races.

An exciting race and excellent results for the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI at the GP Val Degano race

Today, the younger members of the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI took part in the demanding GP Val Degano race, which took place on a 73-kilometer-long track with 1,200 meters of elevation gain. The race featured numerous climbs and descents, presenting a real challenge for all participants.

From the very start, it was clear that the race would be fast and tense, as a dangerous breakaway of ten cyclists, including our fighter Žiga Hamun, took off early on. The group of escaped cyclists persisted in the lead, but they were also in the mirror of the main group of competitors the entire time.

Throughout the race, the pace in the peloton was extremely high, with the riders showing exceptional fighting spirit and a desire to succeed. Before the final climb, the group of breakaway riders was caught, and the peloton was now severely depleted, with only fifteen riders remaining.

At the end of the race, Bor Ebner stood out among our members, showing exceptional skill and strength despite the grueling race and demanding course. Bor fought hard until the very last meter and achieved an excellent ninth place. This achievement is particularly important as it proves that he has returned even stronger after recovering from injury and that he can once again compete with the best in Italy.

Congratulations to the entire POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI for their heartfelt performance and excellent achievements at the GP Val Degano race! Together, you have shown that hard work and dedication bring results. Special congratulations go to Bor Ebner for his outstanding achievement and perseverance in this demanding race.

Another successful test is behind us, filling us with optimism and excitement for new cycling challenges. We are pursuing our goals, training with passion, and looking forward to upcoming races, where we will once again prove that we are one of the strongest teams on the cycling scene.

May cycling continue to bring you joy, happiness, and success! See you at the next race.

Excitement and adrenaline at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor!

With more than 30 years of history, this is the most important competition for young athletes between the ages of 14 and 18.

European Youth Olympics Festival » Maribor 2023

Maribor, Slovenia – The 17th edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival, also known as EYOF 2023 or Maribor 2023, will take place from July 23 to 29, 2023, in Maribor and will be an exciting showcase of young talent in various sports. Among the athletes representing the Slovenian women's cycling team was the promising cyclist Vesna Potočnik (BTC City Ljubljana Team), who competed in both the time trial (TT) and the road race (RR).

The paved streets of Maribor witnessed intense competition in the women's and men's road races, which concluded today. Both races were tense battles, with Italy winning the women's race and Great Britain winning the men's race. There was a particularly exciting moment in the boys' race when British cyclist Himds Max broke away on his own and led for 50 kilometers of the total distance of 68 kilometers. Vanja Kuntarič Žibert (Pogi TEAM) forced a chase of the escaped cyclist and remained in the breakaway for more than 20 km. Despite his courageous efforts, he failed to catch the leading Briton, and the peloton caught up with him in the penultimate lap. Unfortunately, Bastian Petrič had some bad luck, as he was involved in a crash on a slope during the penultimate lap, which prevented him from catching up with the peloton. However, Maia Prevejšek from @adriamobilcycling narrowly missed the podium with an excellent fourth place in the final sprint.

Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and successful performances!
