Exceptional performances by the cycling teams of the ROG cycling club at the national road cycling championship – 2nd CRITERION OF THE CITY OF MURSKA SOBOTA

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, the national road cycling championship for various age categories of younger juniors, juniors, older juniors, U23 juniors, elite men, and elite women took place in Murska Sobota. The event attracted top cyclists from various teams, among which the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI and BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT teams stood out.

POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI

The POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI team impressed with their outstanding achievements at the championship. Miha Otoničar took an excellent 2nd place in the boys' A category (U15/2), while Jure Jovanovič took 4th place in the same category. Jake Sosa and Luka Ukmar also achieved excellent results, ranking 9th and 10th in the same category.

In the boys' B category (U15/1), Urban Hvastija took first place, while Franci Krajnc took second place. Miha Kovačič and Nejc Čebulj ranked seventh and ninth in the same category.

Miha Otoničar continued his success and ranked second in the boys' C category (U13). Marcos Remon and Andrej Gregorčič ranked sixth and ninth in the same category.

In the younger youth category (U17), the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI team excelled. Bor Ebner took 1st place, Bastian Petrič 2nd place, Žiga Hamun 5th place, Vanja Kuntaric Žibert 7th place, and Igor Prijatelj 10th place.

Marcel Skok took 9th place in the older youth (MJ) category.

BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT

The BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team also performed well at the championship. Lina Mehle took first place in the girls' A category (WU15/2), while Zara Bukovec took fourth place in the same category. Lara Šetina took second place in the girls' B category (WU15/1), and Ana Neža Pavlin took ninth place in the same category.

In the younger youth category (WU17), Vesna Potočnik took 1st place, Taja Mehle 4th place, Neža Šetina 6th place, Brina Manja Čuš 8th place, Anika Juvan 9th place, and Julija Farazin 10th place.

The BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team also performed excellently in the older youth category (WJ). Ema Podberšič took 3rd place, Sara Pestotnik 4th place, Eva Potočnik 5th place, Tjaša Sušnik 6th place, Zoja Ferlež 7th place, Lucija Hočevar 8th place, and Maja Perpar 9th place.

Urša Pintar takes second place in the demanding Alpes Grésivaudan Classic 1.1 race in France

Urša Pintar, a member of the BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team, impressed with her outstanding achievement at the Alpes Grésivaudan Classic 1.1 race in France. The competition, considered one of the most difficult in the women's cycling calendar, featured a demanding 126 km course with an incredible 3,200 m elevation gain.

The decisive selection took place in the last 10 km of the climb, with only three cyclists remaining in the lead, including Urša Pintar, Evita Muzic, and Cofidis Coston Morgane. In a tense finish, Evita Muzic broke away on the descent and deservedly celebrated her victory. Urša Pintar finished in an excellent second place, achieving an outstanding result and securing a place on the podium in this first category race.

In addition to Urša Pintar, two young members of the BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team, Nika Bobnar and Tjaša Sušnik, also competed in the race. Although they finished well behind the leaders, they showed exceptional fighting spirit and perseverance on the demanding course.

For Urša Pintar, her success in the Alpes Grésivaudan Classic 1.1 race is an important milestone in her cycling career, confirming her excellent preparation and talent. Young Slovenian cyclists shine at the Carnia Julium Classic 2023 race in Italy

The younger juniors of the Pogi Team continue their winning streak in international cycling races

This time at the prestigious Carnia Julium Classic 2023 race in Italy. Despite strong competition and a demanding 70-kilometer route, our guys once again demonstrated their cycling skills and fighting spirit.

The race began with a series of flat laps, where our cyclists already showed exceptional riding skills and skillfully covered their opponents' attacks. When the race entered the final climb, a larger group of cyclists formed. The guys worked together perfectly and, through teamwork, put Vanja Kuntarič Žibert in an excellent position to attack at the top.

As the finish line approached, Vanja showed exceptional strength and endurance, attacking one kilometer before the end of the climb. With his fast pace, he gained a nice lead over the other competitors. However, his attack was caught just 50 meters before the finish line, when Italian Magagnotti overtook him and claimed victory.

Nevertheless, Vanja Kuntarič Žibert achieved an excellent second place in the race, which is a remarkable achievement for a young cyclist. The entire team deserves congratulations for their excellent teamwork, as their tactical riding and support for Vanja contributed to his success.

This result proves that our young cyclists are in excellent shape and ready for the challenges of international races. Their fighting spirit, perseverance, and team spirit are a true inspiration for all fans and young cyclists who want to achieve success in cycling races.

An exciting cycling race on the Gače track: Exceptional achievements by the cyclists of the POGI team

Today, May 28, 2023, an unforgettable cycling race for young cyclists took place at the foot of the popular Gače ski resort. The 4-kilometer circular track, stretching between Gače and Komarna vas, hosted five races in nine age categories, attracting more than 200 children from all over Slovenia. The VN RTC Gače 2023, as the race was named, proved to be a challenging course, with cyclists competing for points in the Slovenian Cup.

Among the many talented young cyclists who took part in the race, the members of the POGI team also stood out with their exceptional achievements. In the junior youth category (U17), Vanja Kuntaric Žibret shone and took first place, demonstrating his exceptional cycling skills and perseverance. Bor Ebner also performed excellently in the same category, taking third place. The juniors impressed both fans and other competitors with their performances.

In the boys' category A (U15/2), Miha Otoničar demonstrated his talent and deservedly took first place. His excellent riding impressed visitors and showed that he can take on the biggest challenges in the race. Gal Klun also proved himself in the boys' B category (U15/1) and took third place, demonstrating his perseverance and cycling skills.

The successes of the POGI team cyclists at the VN RTC Gače 2023 are an excellent indicator of the hard work and dedication invested by both the competitors and their coaches. The 2023 Gače RTC Championship was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved, both competitors and visitors. Report from the Tour de Feminin cycling race: Slovenian cyclists shine on the international stage

On Thursday, the four-day Tour de Feminin race of the second category began in the Czech Republic, attracting many top cyclists from around the world. Among the competitors is the BTC City Ljubljana Scott team, known for its strong lineup and exceptional achievements on the international stage.

The cyclists of the BTC City Ljubljana Scott team prepared diligently for this race and set themselves ambitious goals. With a strong team and excellent tactics, they wanted to achieve top results and establish themselves among the best teams in the race.

  1. May – The @tourdefeminin cycling race began on Thursday afternoon with a stopwatch. Numerous enthusiasts gathered along the route, ready to watch the cyclists' exceptional competitiveness and perseverance. Among them were Slovenian competitors Urša Pintar and Nika Bobnar, who managed to finish in the top twenty. Their success was a real boost for both cyclists and promised a promising continuation of the race.
  2. May – On the third stage of @tourdefeminin, covering 110 km with an elevation gain of 1,540 meters, Urša Pintar made her presence felt in the leading group of competitors, finishing in a respectable 20th place. Tjaša Sušnik and Nika Bobnar also fought hard, but finished the stage in 52nd and 66th place, respectively, 27 seconds behind. Nevertheless, their performances were still commendable.
  3. May – The last day of @tourdefeminin brought a lot of joy and satisfaction. In today's stage, Tjaša Sušnik and Urša Pintar crossed the finish line together with the first group of cyclists and achieved an excellent 10th and 13th place, respectively. Their perseverance and strength enabled them to achieve excellent rankings at the end of the race. Urša Pintar took an exceptional 6th place in the overall standings, while Tjaša Sušnik finished in 18th place. Nika Bobnar finished the race in a respectable 66th place.

The @tourdefeminin cycling race is now behind us, but memories of this exceptional competition will remain with us for a long time. The competitors demonstrated their outstanding abilities and perseverance, thrilling spectators at every stage and proving that they are among the best in the world. Official presentation of the Peugeot Slovenia scholarship to young cyclist Pogi Teama

Our cyclist Vanja Kuntarič Žibert U17 officially received a scholarship from Peugeot Slovenia yesterday at the Franja Marathon press conference.

Peugeot has been the official vehicle of the Rog Cycling Club and the legendary Franja Marathon for two decades, and for the last two seasons also of the POGI TEAM. As part of its sponsorship, Peugeot, in collaboration with@avtotehnavis, handed over the keys to two passenger cars, a Peugeot 2008 and a 3008, in 2021. In addition to the official vehicle, Peugeot committed to awarding a cycling scholarship to the best cyclist in the boys' category who scores the most points in the 2022 season. This scholarship is part of Peugeot's efforts to encourage and support young talent in cycling and to promote a culture of excellence in the sport.

Jakub Husar (Pogi Team UAE Generali) with an excellent performance at the Brilon Cup – Kyjov cycling race

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, young cyclist Jakub Husar from the Pogi Team UAE Generali competed in the demanding Brilon Cup – Kyjov cycling race. Despite difficult conditions on the 82.6 km long track, Jakub showed exceptional potential and deservedly finished in 5th place.

The race was full of challenges, as the cyclists had to contend with a demanding route and difficult weather conditions. Despite this, Jakub proved himself with his endurance, strength, and tactical approach. With hard work and determination, he remained in contention for the win throughout.

Jakub maintained a high position until the final turn before the finish line and had an opportunity to attack. Unfortunately, he was surprised by a tire slip in the final turn, which prevented him from competing for the victory. Nevertheless, he managed to keep his composure and continue the race with a quick response, which led him to an excellent 5th place.

Jakub's success at the Brilon Cup – Kyjov race is the result of his dedication to cycling, hard work, and talent. With his persistent approach, he has proven that he is one of the most promising young cyclists and has great potential for future success.

Pogi Team cyclists shine at the Three-Day Race in Idrija: Climb, time trial, and circuit race

Extreme weather conditions challenge young cyclists in Idrija

On Friday, May 12, 2023, a three-day cycling race took place in the idyllic Slovenian town of Idrija, attracting many young cycling talents. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the young cyclists demonstrated their endurance and fighting spirit.

The first day of the race featured a climb that was particularly challenging due to the cold weather. The young cyclists from the Boys C team, including Marcos Remon, performed excellently and finished in fourth place. Despite the weather conditions, which were almost reminiscent of winter snow, they showed exceptional determination and fought until the end.

Young cyclists from teams Boys A and B also had to contend with rainy conditions on a slightly longer 4 km climb. However, this did not deter them from their goal, as they overcame obstacles with courage and perseverance and steadily approached the finish line.

The race presented challenges on the very first day, offering young cyclists the opportunity to grow and improve their cycling skills. Despite the difficult weather conditions, all cyclists demonstrated their hard work and desire to succeed.

The three-day race in Idrija continued with a time trial on Saturday and concluded with a circuit race through the town center on Sunday.

On the second day of the three-day cycling race in Idrija, a time trial was held, in which young cyclists from teams Dečki A, B, and C tested their strength. With their exceptional achievements, they demonstrated their perseverance and abilities and won important places.

Urban Hvastija shone in the Boys B team and took an excellent second place. His fast time on the clock was the result of hard work and dedication to training. Franci Kranjc, also from the Boys B team, achieved an excellent result and was delighted with his third place. Both demonstrated their excellent preparation and competitive spirit.

The young cyclists from the Boys A team also excelled in the time trial. Miha Otoničar showed exceptional form and was delighted with his third place. His achievement is the result of hard work and dedication to training, which paid off in this race.

We sincerely congratulate all the boys on their outstanding achievements! With their hard work, discipline, and fighting spirit, they have proven that they can compete with the best. Their excellent results in Saturday's time trial should be recognized and appreciated.

On the last, third day of the cycling race through the streets of Idrija, our young cyclists showed exceptional form and achieved excellent results. Let's see how the boys ranked in the different categories:

Cycling enthusiasts can already prepare for a new cycling adventure, as the 16th Komenda Municipality and Lidl Cup for young people, organized by Pogi Team and KD Rog, will take place on May 21 in Komenda.

The race will attract numerous cycling talents, among whom the youngest competitors will compete for the Lidl Cup for young cyclists. This is an excellent opportunity for young cyclists to demonstrate their skills and compete with their peers.

Pogi Team members compete in the Gran Premio San Michele race

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, the Pogi Team members Domen Oblak, Jakub Husar, Tine Jenko, Matevž Zajc, Luka Gregorčič, Gašper Klanjšček, Gašper Kokalj, and Žan Predojevič Benda participated in the Gran Premio San Michele race. On the 117 km long course, which included ten hilly laps, the guys also had to face the famous Cá del Poggio climb.

In the end, Gašper Klanjšček was the best of the Pogi Team members, finishing in 19th place, while Domen Oblak finished the race in 32nd place. The sprint decided the winner of the race, while the boys fought well and achieved an encouraging result. This result is a good indicator of their readiness, as it shows progress and potential for further development. We congratulate the guys on their efforts and results and wish them all the best and success in future races.
