Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic at the 47th GP Sportivi di Poggiana

Koelsar race 47° GRAN PREMIO SPORTIVI DI POGGIANA, which took place on August 13, brought plenty of tension and action on Italian roads. The Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic decided to represent the colors of the club at this prestigious test, which took place over a distance of 164 kilometers. Despite their efforts and determination, the result was not in their favor, but the experience undoubtedly provided an opportunity to learn and grow.

At the race, the selected line-up of the team was presented, consisting of riders: Fabijan KRALJ, Jernej HRIBAR, Dan Andrej TOMŠIČ and Andrew SAMPSON. Together, they embarked on a challenging route that included many ascents, descents and turns, thus providing many challenges for all competitors.

Despite the effort and desire for success, the team Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic failed to achieve the desired results. The race brought unexpected developments and problems that required a lot of tactical thinking and physical strength. The cyclists faced various challenges on the road, but this time victory was not meant for them.

As Fabijan KRALJ, one of the team members, said: "It was not our day in Italy, but you try to learn from the mistakes you have made and you go on." This kind of response to challenge is key to maintaining a positive attitude. We can learn a lot from every failure and grow as athletes and individuals. The team members will not let themselves be intimidated, but will continue to train and prepare for the upcoming races.

Jernej HRIBAR, another member of the team, added: "Despite our efforts on the race, circumstances got the better of us. It's important to stay focused and motivated for the upcoming races.” The sport of cycling is known for its unpredictability, so ups and downs are an integral part of this discipline. Each race brings new experiences that help to grow both the physical and mental strength of the cyclists.

The atmosphere among the team members remained positive and encouraging, despite the setback. Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic showed unity and dedication to her goals. Their efforts were not in vain, as they gained invaluable experience that will help them in future races.

Successful Cycling Weekend: Victories in Ilirska Bistrica and excellent racing at the Alpe Adria Tour in Austria

Last weekend was full of exciting events for cycling enthusiasts, as exceptional cycling events took place both in Slovenia and Austria. There is a criterion in Ilirska Bistrica impressed with victories, while v Austria started the Alpe Adria Tour, where our riders also proved themselves with their excellent performances.

On Saturday, in Ilirska Bistrica, Bastian Petrič shone among the juniors and earned first place. With his victory, he showed the extraordinary talent and hard work that young cyclists invest in their sport. The young women did not remain in the background, as they proved with their exceptional performances that women's cycling is also on the rise.

In the Alpe Adria Tour race on Sunday, Miha Otoničar ranked 7th and Jure Jovanovič ranked 9th in the top ten. The competition was extremely strong, which is why their rankings are particularly impressive.

Younger and older juniors also competed in the same race. Among the juniors, despite the absence of the top three riders, our boys showed a fighting ride. Žan Lopatič showed himself with the 21st place after returning after a long absence from competitions. Among the older juniors, in strong competition from Tina Jenko, he achieved an excellent 6th place. The other boys were not far behind, which promises a tense continuation of the competition.

Sunday's stage of the Alpe Adria Tour was extremely successful for our riders. In the boys' category A and B, Miha Otoničar placed 7th, Maks Majnik placed 9th, and David Štembal placed 10th. With this ranking, Otoničar consolidated his position in 5th place overall.

Among the juniors, Žiga Hamun won an excellent 9th place in the group sprint, while Gašper Klanjšček reached 6th place after a long escape, and Jure Medved placed 9th. With this, Klanjšček advanced to 4th place in the general total.

All these outstanding performances of our cyclists in various competitions reflect their efforts, training and dedication to the sport. The fans are already eagerly awaiting the next stages and are looking forward to future successes.

Tense days at the Alpe Adria Tour race brought exciting moments and sublime achievements for our local cycling heroes. Today and yesterday, our outstanding guys took to the bumpy roads, proving themselves with exceptional rides that caught the attention of fans and cycling connoisseurs.

Yesterday brought some real cycling atmosphere when our representatives competed in the difficult conditions of the Alpe Adria Tour race. In the Boys A and B category, Miha Otoničar and Jure Jovanovič shone among the top ten competitors. Miha Otoničar took 7th place, while Jure Jovanovič took an excellent 9th place. Their achievements are undoubtedly a source of pride for the entire cycling community, as they proved themselves among strong competition.

The Alpe Adria Tour race was not only intended for experienced cyclists, as younger and older youths also tried their hand at the race. In the Youth category, despite the absence of the most recognizable cycling names who competed in other competitions, our boys showed exceptional fighting spirit and perseverance. Žan Lopatič took 21st place, which is particularly important, as he returned after a long absence from competitions. Our team was also well represented in the Senior Juniors, as Tine Jenko won an excellent 6th place.

Today's royal stage was a special thrill for the Boys A and B category. Three of our talented riders made it into the top ten. Miha Otoničar shone again and won 7th place, Maks Majnik reached 9th place, while David Štember rounded off this extremely successful stage with 10th place. Otoničar continues to hold a high position in the total, as it is in 5th place.

On the other hand, the Youth and Senior Youth diligently collected their achievements. Žiga Hamun won 9th place in the Youth category at the MM with a sprint, while Gašper Klanjšček achieved an excellent 6th place in the Seniors category with a persistent escape. Jure Medved finished in 9th place. With his performance, Klanjšček advanced to 4th place in the general standings, which is undoubtedly an extraordinary achievement.

BTC City Ljubljana Team with convincing performances at the Kreiz Breizh Elites 2023 race

The BTC City team from Ljubljana Today, the Ljubljana Team took part in the demanding race of the first category Kreiz Breizh Elites in Brittany. On the 140 km long route, a large selection was quickly made at the demanding mountain destination, Urša Pintar and Nika Bobnar, members of the BTC City Ljubljana Team, remained in the main group.

With perseverance and excellent tactics, Urša Pintar and Nika Bobnar successfully stayed in the front and broke away in the final laps together with four other cyclists. Together, they formed a leading group that successfully controlled the events and rushed towards the finish line, where they broke ahead of the first group of female cyclists.

In the end, Italian Vettorello Giorgio, a member of the Be Pink team, celebrated the victory. Urša Pintar crossed the finish line in 13th place, while Nika Bobnar finished the race in 19th place, which are two outstanding achievements for the members BTC City Ljubljana Team.

The other members of the team, Špela Colnar and Hana Žumer, also proved their skills on the demanding course. Špela Colnar finished the race in 52nd place, and Hana Žumer in 60th place.

BTC City Ljubljana Team has once again shown excellence and competitiveness among the best teams in the world of women's cycling. Their outstanding achievements in the Kreiz Breizh Elites are an encouraging sign for future challenges and proof that they are among the strongest competitors at the world level. Exciting race and great achievements of POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI at Val Degano GP

Today, the younger juniors of the team POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS entered the challenging GP Val Degano race, which took place on a 73-kilometer long course with 1,200 meters of elevation gain. The race served up many ups and downs, thus presenting a real challenge for all participants.

It was clear from the very start that the race would be fast and tense, as there was a dangerous breakaway of ten cyclists early on, including our fighter Žiga Hamun. A group of runaway cyclists persisted in the front, but they were also in the rearview mirror for most of the competitors.

Throughout the entire race, the pace was extremely high in the main part, the cyclists showed exceptional fighting spirit and desire to succeed. Before the final climb, a group of breakaway riders had been caught, and the main body was now severely depleted, with only fifteen riders remaining.

At the end of the race, Bor Ebner stood out among our members, who showed exceptional skills and strength despite the tiring race and demanding course. Bor fought exceptionally well until the last meter and won an excellent ninth place. This achievement is particularly important as it proves that he came back even stronger after recovering from his injury and that he can once again race with the best in Italy.

Congratulations to the entire team POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS for a hearty performance and great achievements at the GP Val Degano race! Together, you have shown that hard work and dedication bring results. Special congratulations go to Bor Ebner for his outstanding achievement and persistence in this challenging race.

Another successful test is behind us, which fills us with optimism and joy for new cycling challenges. We follow our goals, train with passion and look forward to the upcoming races where we will once again prove that we are one of the strongest teams on the cycling scene.

Excitement and adrenaline at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor!

With more than 30 years of history, the most important competition for young sportsmen and women between the ages of 14 and 18.

Maribor, Slovenia – The 17th edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival, also known as EYOF 2023 or Maribor 2023, takes place from July 23 to 29, 2023 in Maribor and is an exciting showcase of young talent in various sports. Among the athletes who represented the Slovenian women's cycling team was the promising cyclist Vesna Potočnik (BTC City Ljubljana Team), who participated in both the time trial (TT) and the road race (RR).

The cobbled streets of Maribor witnessed intense competitions in the girls' and boys' road race, which ended today. Both races were tightly contested, with Italy winning the girls and Great Britain winning the boys. We experienced a particularly exciting moment in the boys' race, when the British cyclist Himds Max broke away on his own and led as much as 50 kilometers out of the total distance of 68 kilometers. Vanja Kuntarič Žibert (Pogi TEAM) forced the pursuit of the runaway cyclist and remained on the run for more than 20 km. Despite his valiant efforts, he was unable to catch the leading Briton, with the bulk of the pack catching him on the penultimate lap. Unfortunately, Bastian Petrič was unlucky as he was involved in a fall on the slope during the penultimate lap, which prevented him from catching the main group. However, Maia Prevejšek from @adriamobilcycling barely missed the podium with an excellent fourth place in the finishing sprint.

The riders of the KD ROG teams shone in Kranj, the older juniors also impressed in Italy!

Cycling holiday in Kranj

once again attracted many cycling and social enthusiasts who gathered on the last weekend of July to enjoy exciting competition and spectacular racing. The event took place at various venues in the city, which added a special charm to the entire event.

On Saturday (July 22) the male and female cyclists started their competitive program already in the afternoon, with a criterium through the streets of Kranje. In the meantime, even children who are not yet practicing cycling had their chance to have fun and participate at 6:30 p.m. But the real surprise came before the night criterium, when she had her own the sports route was completed by the outstanding cyclist Jan Polanc, who led the lap of honor. Then came the highlight of the evening – the night criterium for the members' category, which was a real cycling spectacle for the spectators. After the race, the atmosphere was further brightened by a concert by Mitje Šinkovac, which provided an unforgettable end to the evening for all those present.

On the day of the event, the streets of Kranje were extremely diverse, as cyclists competed in various categories. Among the outstanding achievements, it was possible to notice the members of the team POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS, who performed excellently and achieved impressive results. Among the boys, C won Ažbe Hvastija, they followed him Andrej Gregorčič and Gasper Mesec. He celebrated in the category of boys B Franci Krajnc, he won second place Urban Hvastija, and he was third Gal Klun. He was the best in the A boys Miha Otoničar. Younger juniors were represented by the side Bora Ebner, while he celebrated with the older juniors Marcel Skok.

The representatives were also excellent at the event BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT teams. She won among the B girls Lara Šetina, and among girls A Lina Mehle. Younger girls reached second place with Tajo Mehle, and the older juniors first s Here is Potočnik. In the category of members, she won the top step Nika Bobnar.

The highlight of the entire event was the Sunday race - the 55th anniversary Grand Prix of Kranj I GP Kranj 2023 powered by I feel Slovenia, the memorial of Filip Majcen. The route took place in the surroundings of Kranj and impressed both competitors and spectators. The organizers promised strong international competition, and indeed, as many as 24 teams and 160 cyclists participated at the start. The race was very demanding, as the competitors had to cover 13 laps, which measured a total of 158.6 km. Particularly exciting was the ascent to Jelenov klanec, which was already recognized as one of the most demanding parts of the race in Kranj.

Team riders LJUBLJANA GUSTO SANTIC they competed perfectly, Dylan Hopkins and won an excellent 7th place. 

Kudos to the organizers for a perfectly executed event that impressed both participants and spectators. The cycling festival in Kranj is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the cycling season in Slovenia and will certainly be remembered for a long time. Congratulations to all participants and winners with excellent results!

 

Older juniors also competed in Italy 

The results of the Coppa Fratelli Granzotto race that took place on Sunday (23/07) brought even more reasons to rejoice as the riders POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS showed with their outstanding performance. In the second lap of the race, a breakaway group was formed, in which they shone Gašper Klanjšček and Marcel Skok. Marcel Skok ended up taking an excellent 7th place, and he also Kubo Hussar shined with a third place in the flying targets.

Success of the POGI TEAM at the 10th Grand Prix of the Municipality of GORJE 2023

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, the 10th GN OBČINA GORJE 2023 took place, a criterium with a lap length of 1060 meters. Team riders GO TEAM did exceptionally well in this competition and achieved excellent results. They showed their skills and fighting spirit in different categories.

In the Boys A category, Miha Otoničar, Luka Ukmar and David Štembal excelled. Miha Otoničar achieved an excellent 6th place, and Luka Ukmar took 8th place. David Štembal also achieved a solid result in 8th place.

In the Boys B category, they also performed excellently. Franci Krajnc won 5th place, Urban Hvastija 9th place, and Gal Klun 10th place. Maks Rožanec also showed a good performance and finished in 10th place.

In the Boys C category, Andrej Gregorčič and Gašper Mesec showed themselves with good performances. Andrej Gregorčič finished in 7th place, and Gašper Mesec in 8th place.

Medzinárodné dni cyklistiky in Slovakia

On Sunday, the Medzinárodné dni cyklistiky stage race started in Slovakia, which counts as the Cup of Nations. POGI TEAM cyclists represented the colors of the national team. Marcel Škok and Gašper Klanjšček took part in this race. Although they did not shine yesterday, Gašper Klanjšček achieved an exceptional 6th place today.

Continental Cycling Team Ljubljana Gusto Santic competed at the 46th Gemenc GP. Dylan Hopkins and the team had an outstanding three days of racing. The successes of the BTC City Ljubljana Team are not limited to domestic races, as they also achieve exceptional results in international competitions. Recently, some senior juniors from the team participated in a competition in Italy, the 8th Memorial Franco Basso & 2nd Memorial Luigi Lievore. Among these races, Sara Pestotnik stood out, achieving an excellent 12th place. This is a remarkable achievement for a young cyclist who promises a bright future.

We are happy to see that our male and female cyclists achieve top results both in domestic and international races. This is the result of their hard work, dedication and talent. We will follow their further performances and cheer for them in future races. The BTC City Ljubljana Team is consolidating itself as an important player in women's cycling and contributing to the growth of this sport both locally and internationally.

Pogi Team UAE Generali and BTC City Ljubljana Scott raced at KIDS TOUR OF SLOVENIA 30.6. – 2/7/2023

At a recently completed bicycle race Kids Tour of Slovenia 2023 the young cyclists of the Pogi Team UAE Generali and BTC City Ljubljana Scott teams showed exceptional skills and talent. The stage race, which took place from June 30 to July 2, brought exciting battles between the youngest competitors who competed in four different stages.

2.etapa / 2nd stage Novo mesto
3rd stage / 3rd stage Kostanjevica na Krka
4th stage / 4th stage Šentjernej

The first stage took place in Dolenjske Toplice, the second in Nova mesto, the third in Kostanjevica na Krka, and the fourth in Šentjernej. Each stage presented a unique opportunity for young male and female cyclists to show their skills and fight for the top places in their categories.

The race included various categories which included Boys and Girls C/U13, Boys and Girls B/U14, Boys and Girls A/U15 and Junior Juniors and Junior Juniors U17/WU17. Each category presented a special challenge and opportunity for young competitors to demonstrate their cycling skills and test themselves on a challenging course.

Teams Pogi Team UAE Generali and BTC City Ljubljana Scott showed an extremely strong presence in the race, with their male and female cyclists showing speed, endurance and tactical thinking. Their discipline, dedication and team spirit led them to outstanding results.

The young male and female competitors impressed the audience with their incredible rides and fighting spirit at every stage. We saw exceptional sprints, climbs, descents and tactical maneuvers, which proved that the future of Slovenian cycling is bright and promising.

National road championship in Radovljica + race in Italy

In the idyllic Slovenian town of Radovljica, the national road cycling championship "Slovenije National Championship" took place today, which brought an exceptional atmosphere and tense races. Young and experienced cyclists competed on challenging routes, where the titles of national champions in various categories were decided.

In the categories of junior juniors and senior juniors, the competitors overcame three rounds with a total length of 58.5 kilometers and a height difference of 990 meters. In the junior category, Bastian Petrič shone, winning the title of national champion with his exceptional driving and endurance. Marcel Skok took third place among the older juniors, and both competitors are members of the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI team.

In the senior junior category, Ema Podberšič from the BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team climbed to the top, and with her outstanding performance, she convincingly won the national champion title. Among the members, the national champion was Urška Pintar, also from the BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT team. Both cyclists showed exceptional strength, endurance and cycling skills.

In the members' category, the race took place on a challenging 156-kilometer route, which included eight laps and a 2,640-meter elevation difference. The riders tackled the challenges the course offered, including two short climbs. In this extremely competitive race, Anže Skok from the LJUBLJANA GUSTO SANTIC team took 10th place, while Tadej Pogačar, a member of the UAE team, established himself at the top, who shone and deservedly crowned himself the national champion.

In addition to the national championship in Radovljica, POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI riders also competed in a race in Italy. In the boys' category A, Miha Otoničar won first place with a 40-second advantage over his pursuers, while Urban Hvastja took fifth place in the boys' category B.

Today's races at the national championship and the race in Italy were full of adrenaline, outstanding achievements and outstanding cycling talent. Competitors tackled difficult challenges, overcame difficult climbs and impressed the spectators with exceptional driving.
