National Velodrome Championship 2024

At this year's national championship, we watched the exceptional performances of three of our cycling teams. Let's see how they fared:

    • Ljubljana Gusto Santic showed exceptional strength and endurance on the race track. The riders fought with all their zeal, which led to excellent results. Despite the demanding competition, they achieved several placings on the podium.

On Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., you are invited to the online lecture THE POWER OF SPORTS ON CHILDREN'S BRAIN DEVELOPMENT

Science in sports increasingly emphasizes the importance of physical fitness of young people, but at the same time focuses on the increasing importance of psychological fitness. The emotions and feelings of active young people are becoming crucial, as their recognition enables effective regulation of emotions before, during and after training and competition. Young athletes experience more stressful situations, but these provide valuable experiences if they are properly addressed, evaluated, and heard. In search of success and inner satisfaction, more and more athletes resort to visualization, mindfulness techniques and breathing exercises, which have a significant effect on calming and preparing the brain for future situations.

Nowadays, burnout and (over)fatigue occur more and more often even among athletes. Therefore, psychological support for young people is even more crucial and necessary. The success of young athletes depends on supportive parents, quality coaches and a strong and supportive community.

That is why we invite you to the online lecture entitled THE POWER OF SPORTS ON CHILDREN'S BRAIN DEVELOPMENT and in this way help ourselves, young people and the community to better mental health.

INVITATION: Ghosts, professionals, coaches, sports fans and children, young people who are happy, interested and inspired by sports are invited.

LECTURER Irena Kuntarič Žibert, BA. pth., spec. PT of children and adolescents under SV

She graduated from the Sigmund Freud University Vienna - Ljubljana branch. He is the head of the NEVA Institute, the Institute for the Development of Children and Adolescents, which has its outpatient clinic in the private therapeutic center Obelisk in Ljubljana. She is the professional leader of the socio-therapeutic Independence and Connection Camp in close cooperation with the Sigmund Freud University. She is also the professional manager of the educational program for professional workers of the VIZ, which is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.

She is a fan of researching relationships between children and adolescents and an advocate of corrective emotional experience for the development of new ways of thinking, feeling, behaving and relating. Caring for the mental health of children and adolescents is her priority for the development of modern times. It also develops and encourages the mentality of young athletes, as it believes that psychological preparation is one of the foundations for a healthy way of developing young people and society.

She is a big fan of cycling and a sportswoman herself. She is also a mother to a son, Vanja, and a girl, Neža. She and her husband encourage sports in the family dynamic, as they wholeheartedly believe that active children can also be happier children.

BTC City Ljubljana Scott and Pogi Team UAE Generali at winter training in Pokljuka

Younger juniors Pogi Team UAE Generali treated themselves to winter preparations in the idyllic Pokljuka, where they enthusiastically trained on cross-country skis and went on hikes, including a trip to the popular Bled cottage. The sunny weather was ideal for them, as they devoted the mornings to outdoor activities, while the afternoons were spent intensive training on cross-country skis. The evenings were reserved for educational activities and relaxed socializing with board games.

Also this year, cross-country competitions were an indispensable part of the winter preparations, where young cyclists collected points. Top achievements were rewarded with attractive prizes that he made possible Tadej Pogačar, mentor and team supporter.

Also members of the women's cycling team BTC City Ljubljana Scott took advantage of the opportunity for intensive training at Pokljuka. They spent four days in an active environment, where they combined cross-country skiing with hikes in the picturesque mountain world. The atmosphere was full of sportsmanship and mutual support, which contributed to a great atmosphere and successful preparations for the upcoming challenges.

The winter preparations at Pokljuka were thus an exceptional experience for both teams, full of sporting achievements and informal socializing, which strengthens the team spirit and encourages the further development of young talents in the world of cycling.

Success and Emotions at the Velodrome in Novi Mesto: The Story of the 2023 National Championship for Boys and Girls

Novo Mesto, December 29, 2023 

The velodrome in Nove Mesto hosted the first national championship in bicycle racing for boys and girls in 2023. The event, which took place from December 28 to 29, was full of great achievements of young cyclists.

The first day of the championship was marked by the speed and persistence of boys A, B and C, who competed in the 500m time trial. Both national champions, Jure Jovanovič in boys A and Franci Krajnc in boys B, set new national records. Maks Rožanec finished in third place among the B boys, while Ažbe Hvastija reached the third place among the C boys.

The second day of the championship was just as exciting, with a series of races to different destinations and in different categories. Among the achievements, Ažbe Hvastija, Urban Hvastija, and Franci Krajnc stand out, who performed excellently in various races, including the relegation race and the race to the finish line.

The award ceremony for the Slovenia Cup brought recognition to the best riders and teams, with Pogi Team standing out as the best B boys team, while KD Rog celebrated as the best team among the members.

The national championship at the velodrome also offered an excellent opportunity to highlight talented young cyclists. Brina Prevodnik, Taja Mehle, and Nika Bobnar excelled in various disciplines, with the KD Rog team proudly accepting the titles of the best teams in various girls' categories.

According to the results of GP Novi Mesto and the Christmas-New Year criteria, the girls Amelija Baranova, Brina Prevodnik and Ema Podberšič and Nika Bobnar were in the forefront, achieving honors in various races.

The Slovenian Cup 2023 ceremony concluded the championship with congratulations to all winners and participants and wished them success in the upcoming cycling season. Pogi Team and KD Rog were deservedly celebrated as the best teams in their respective categories.

The national championship at the velodrome in Novi Mesto set an excellent conclusion to 2023 and predicted a bright future for Slovenian cycling.

The Third Ljubljana Cyclocross: Unforgettable Cycling Spectacle in Stožice and the awarding of the Golden Horn Bicycle

Yesterday, in the heart of Ljubljana, we witnessed the third cyclocross, which took place in the wonderful surroundings of Stožice. The event, which started at 11 a.m., impressed both the competitors and the spectators, who experienced a superb cycling spectacle.

The competition included various categories, from the youngest to experienced cyclists, and attracted many cycling fans. Despite the winter conditions, the male and female competitors competed on a demanding course, full of challenges and adrenaline.

Among the members, the top step was won by the experienced Anže Ravbar, who beat strong competition with his tactical driving and perseverance. Nika Bobnar shone among the members, showed excellent form and deservedly earned first place.

Among the older juniors, Gašper Štajnar emerged as the winner, while the fastest among the younger juniors was Maj Bohak. With her outstanding performance, Eva Terpin won first place both among juniors and overall.

In the youngest category, Miha Dakskobler showed his speed among the A boys, Urban Dejak was the fastest among the B boys, and Nej Stojičevič among the C boys. Among the girls, Neža Utranker celebrated the victory.

In addition to the atmosphere of competitive spirit, the event was also special because of the awarding of the golden bicycle. Urša Pintar, Gal Glivar and Tadej Pogačar received prestigious awards for their high rankings in the international UCI rankings. A special golden bike went to Tone Fornezzi Tof, who was awarded for his life's work and invaluable influence on the development of Slovenian cycling.

The third Cyclocross Ljubljana thus left an indelible mark in the world of cycling, and at the same time it was an excellent opportunity to socialize and get excited about the top sport.

Exciting national championship in cyclocross in Kočevje

On Friday, December 23, 2023, Kočevje hosted one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year – the National Cyclocross Championship. The competition, which featured an attractive and varied course, attracted many spectators and passionate fans. The young riders from the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI team were especially in the spotlight, who proved themselves with their combative riding.

The competition took place on a challenging course set in the natural environment of the Kočevski forest. Despite the cold weather, the competitors raced along the muddy paths, crossed the obstacles and tackled the slopes, which required exceptional technical knowledge and endurance.

In the Boys A category, one of the stars of the day was young Gal Klun from the POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI team. His outstanding drive earned him 3rd place, which is a great achievement among such a competitive field of young talent. On the track, Klun showed exceptional riding technique, but at the same time he also showed a great deal of fighting spirit and persistence, which is crucial in cyclocross.

After the competition, Gal Klun shared his feelings: "The course was really challenging, but I tried to keep my rhythm and overcome every obstacle. I am happy that I could represent my team and win 3rd place. I would like to thank all the fans who supported us in the cold, this gives us additional motivation."

The coach of POGI TEAM UAE GENERALI was proud of the achievements of his wards: "The boys did a great job at the national championship. Gal Klun has shown that he has great potential and talent in cyclocross. In the future, we will continue to work hard and fight for even better results."

The national cyclocross championship in Kočevje thus left an indelible mark on the cycling community. Young talents like Gal Klun promise a bright future for Slovenian cyclocross.

Congratulations to all the competitors who took part in this attractive event, and to the organizers for the successful implementation of the competition.

Cyclocross Championship of Primary and Secondary Schools 2023 in Stožice: Brilliant Rankings and Exciting Battles Among Young Cyclists

Yesterday, the cyclocross championship for Ljubljana primary and secondary schools took place in magical Stožice, which was covered with cold air and fog. Elementary school students tackled four rounds, while high school students embarked on a more challenging journey with as many as eight rounds. The announcement of the winners was special, as the awards were held separately for licensed and unlicensed competitors.
