Successfully completed the 18th Komenda Municipality Grand Prix and Lidl Youth Cup

On Sunday, the 18th edition of the Komenda Municipality Grand Prix took place in Komenda, which once again brought together the young hopes of Slovenian cycling, amateur cyclists and competitors for the Slovenian Cup. Almost a hundred preschool and school children gathered at the start of the Lidl Youth Cup, who showed off their cycling skills with courage and joy. There was also a great response in the amateur cyclist category, with the largest crowd being those competing in the Slovenian Cup.

The event was accompanied by a few raindrops, but fortunately the weather did not cause any major problems and the competitions ran smoothly. We are pleased that so many competitors and fans gathered on and around the course, which shows the strong support and love for cycling in our community 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Successful conclusion of the Idrija Grand Prix - excellent results for the Pogi Team and Pika Team

Yesterday, Sunday, May 11, 2025, the three-day stage race concluded with a 2.1 km long circular race through the streets of Idrija Idrija Grand Prix, in the organization Cycling Association Sloga 1902 Idrija (@kd_sloga_1902_idrija). Team cyclists Pogi Team and cycling teams Pika Team by Mastercard They once again showed excellent form and achieved a series of excellent results.

We invite all cycling enthusiasts to join us at 18th Komenda Municipality Grand Prize and Lidl Youth Cup, which will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in Komenda!

An exciting day full of cycling events awaits us, as races for the Slovenian Cup for boys and girls, younger and older juniors, Elite members, amateur cyclists, and the municipal championship will be held. In addition, promotional races for preschool and school children will also take place as part of the Lidl Cup.

Join us from 10 am and let's encourage the best cyclists together!

Important notice: Due to the event, some roads in Komenda will be closed between 11:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Please pay attention to traffic signals and follow the instructions of the marshals.

Senior juniors raced in Italy – Giro di Primavera (1.1)

The older juniors of the Pogi Team performed excellently at the end of a difficult week of competition. They raced hard at the Giro di Primavera in San Vendemiano, Italy, and achieved excellent results. First, they completed five flat laps around the city, then six hilly ones, on which Vanja Kuntaric Žibert quickly found himself in the lead. They worked together with the breakaway riders until the last lap. Then attacks began to occur, and a pair of cyclists found themselves in the lead for 20 kilometers to the finish line. Vanja was just short of joining the front of the race, and then continued the race with two more cyclists. He did not shine in the sprint of the trio, but he was still fifth at the finish line (first among the 2008 riders). He also shone on the mountain finishes, where he was not far short of the overall victory. Luka Maksimovič completed the success in 20th place and Bor Ebner in 25th place.

To Krvavec with Tae Pogačar on October 12, 2025

From Hill to Hill – compete with the best cyclist in the world

Registration opens on May 12th: 1,189 places available, the same number of meters of altitude climb to Krvavec

EVENT FROM CLIMB TO CLIMB – Tadej Pogačar respects the fan support he feels at all races, so we have prepared a unique concept for a cycling event where Tadej will host all his fans on home soil and take them to his favorite hill - Krvavec.

Strong support is like the wind at his back, helping him achieve all his successes, which is why Tadej invites fans from all over the world to his beloved Komenda and his favorite home slope. 

“I want to give something back to the community and the fans,” were Tadej's words and that's how the event FROM CLIMB TO CLIMB – “POGI CHALLENGE” was born. 

Why is this event so special? 

1189 cyclists will be able to register for the event. The number of limited places is not accidental, 1189 is the altitude meters from Klanec to the finish on Krvavec. The main motive for participating in the event will not be just the competition, but the lifelong memory that each participant will have. 

Tadej loves challenges, so now he's challenging his fans. Who can beat him on his climb? Cycling alongside the best cyclist in the world is not only an invaluable experience, it's a real challenge for recreational cyclists. 

THIS IS A UNIQUE SPORTING EVENT THAT THE WORLD AND SLOVENIA HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE 

The mass start of all participants will be in Komenda. From there, Tadej will ride with all the cyclists to the foot of Krvavec. At the fork in the mountain path towards Krvavec, the second, more tense part of the competition will begin. Tadej will pull away, let go of all 1189 cyclists in front of him, and after a short time, start hunting for his escapees. 

The biggest challenge for the competitors will be to defend their lead over Tadej as he chases them to the finish line. So, they are running away from the best cyclist in the world and hoping that he doesn't catch them until they reach the top of Krvavec. Anyone who finishes ahead of him is the ultimate winner, and anyone who is caught by Tadej will have an unforgettable memory.

Tadej Pogačar: "Personally, I'm really looking forward to the event, also because it will be unique, it will take place in my home environment, on my favorite climb in the world. I don't think there are many events like this. I know it will be successful and I want it to become a traditional event."

We will mark it on our calendar. The event is placed at the end of the cycling season, which will allow fans to socialize, relive successes, and socialize with the media. 

Applications they open for the event 12.5.2025 and are open until all 1189 vacancies are filled. 

Why Krvavec? 

Tadej achieved his first cycling victory in 2009 on the climb to Krvavec and already showed that he is good at climbs. This is also his favorite climb and we know that he wins and writes cycling history on climbs, so the decision to organize the “POGI CHALLENGE” was easy. 

What happens when we reach our destination?

The race finish line will be transformed into a place of fun and memories. We will be treated to a varied music program, a meet & greet, a press conference for the media in front of the fans, a fan zone, and an auction of Tadej's cycling equipment (all proceeds will go to the Tadej Pogačar Foundation).

An exceptional cycling weekend for recreational cyclists is behind us: Training, relaxation and socializing in an idyllic environment

The cycling weekend was extremely successful and proved once again why cyclists love to return to this unforgettable sporting experience, which we organize twice a year in Poreč. Despite the fact that the first day was rainy, we had an excellent training session, which further strengthened our endurance and cycling readiness.

We had a large cycling center at the hotel, where you can also rent road bikes. The center offers free bike washing, which we were happy to take advantage of so that we could train on Saturday with clean and ready bikes. Saturday's training took place in dry weather, which allowed us to make even better use of the route. Sunday, however, served up beautiful sunny weather, which ended the entire weekend in the most beautiful way possible.

In the hotel restaurant Valmar Parentino **** The food was, as always, top-notch. The offer was extremely varied and satisfied all tastes, from those who swear by sports nutrition to those who want a little pampering. There was also a spa center and saunas, as well as a large video gaming room, table tennis, billiards and table foosball, where we had a great time spending the rest of our free time when we weren't cycling. There were also guided workouts in the gym, both in the morning and in the evening, which further enriched our experience.

The hotel is also very suitable for families, as it offers numerous animations for children, childcare and other activities that allow for complete relaxation for all generations.

On Saturday evening, we were impressed with a lecture by Andrej Hauptman, president of the KD Rog club and sports director of the UAE team, where Tadej Pogačar is coached, who introduced us to the behind-the-scenes world of races like the Tour de France. His stories and insights into the workings of professional teams impressed us and brought us closer to the world of top cycling.

On Friday evening after dinner we had a nice get-together over a glass of wine, where we made friends and got to know each other better. Many of the weekend participants also connected with each other on Strava and are already looking forward to the new performance, which will take place in the fall.

Once again, sincere thanks go to Miro Miškulin for the excellent organization of the cycling weekend, who ensured that the event ran smoothly and in a pleasant atmosphere.

The cycling season officially started this weekend, so all cycling enthusiasts are invited to the "gentlemen ride" and regularly organized cycling trips for recreational cyclists, which take place every week.
