Cycling holiday in Kranj

once again attracted many cycling and social enthusiasts who gathered on the last weekend of July to enjoy exciting competition and spectacular racing. The event took place at various venues in the city, which added a special charm to the entire event.

On Saturday (July 22) the male and female cyclists started their competitive program already in the afternoon, with a criterium through the streets of Kranje. In the meantime, even children who are not yet practicing cycling had their chance to have fun and participate at 6:30 p.m. But the real surprise came before the night criterium, when she had her own the sports route was completed by the outstanding cyclist Jan Polanc, who led the lap of honor. Then came the highlight of the evening – the night criterium for the members' category, which was a real cycling spectacle for the spectators. After the race, the atmosphere was further brightened by a concert by Mitje Šinkovac, which provided an unforgettable end to the evening for all those present.

On the day of the event, the streets of Kranje were extremely diverse, as cyclists competed in various categories. Among the outstanding achievements, it was possible to notice the members of the team POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS, who performed excellently and achieved impressive results. Among the boys, C won Ažbe Hvastija, they followed him Andrej Gregorčič and Gasper Mesec. He celebrated in the category of boys B Franci Krajnc, he won second place Urban Hvastija, and he was third Gal Klun. He was the best in the A boys Miha Otoničar. Younger juniors were represented by the side Bora Ebner, while he celebrated with the older juniors Marcel Skok.

The representatives were also excellent at the event BTC CITY LJUBLJANA SCOTT teams. She won among the B girls Lara Šetina, and among girls A Lina Mehle. Younger girls reached second place with Tajo Mehle, and the older juniors first s Here is Potočnik. In the category of members, she won the top step Nika Bobnar.

The highlight of the entire event was the Sunday race - the 55th anniversary Grand Prix of Kranj I GP Kranj 2023 powered by I feel Slovenia, the memorial of Filip Majcen. The route took place in the surroundings of Kranj and impressed both competitors and spectators. The organizers promised strong international competition, and indeed, as many as 24 teams and 160 cyclists participated at the start. The race was very demanding, as the competitors had to cover 13 laps, which measured a total of 158.6 km. Particularly exciting was the ascent to Jelenov klanec, which was already recognized as one of the most demanding parts of the race in Kranj.

Team riders LJUBLJANA GUSTO SANTIC they competed perfectly, Dylan Hopkins and won an excellent 7th place. 

Kudos to the organizers for a perfectly executed event that impressed both participants and spectators. The cycling festival in Kranj is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the cycling season in Slovenia and will certainly be remembered for a long time. Older juniors also competed in Italy 

The results of the Coppa Fratelli Granzotto race that took place on Sunday (23/07) brought even more reasons to rejoice as the riders POGI TEAM UAE GENERALS showed with their outstanding performance. In the second lap of the race, a breakaway group was formed, in which they shone Gašper Klanjšček and Marcel Skok. Marcel Skok ended up taking an excellent 7th place, and he also Kubo Hussar shined with a third place in the flying targets.
